How to Make a Natural Essential Oil Infused Deodorant

Ever since I started my wellness journey, keeping track of eating healthy and exercising regularly, I’ve also started keeping an eye on the products I use in my beauty routine. Health comes from the inside out, but paying close attention on the products we use topically also plays a major role in a healthy lifestyle.

Learning how bad aluminum and many of the parabens found in the regular deodorants are and how they actually harm the body, I’ve decided to go on and make my own deodorant. I couldn’t believe how easy it was to make one, as all of the ingredients I needed to make it were already in my kitchen cabinet!

Here’s what you need to make your own customized natural deodorant:

  • ½ cup of coconut oil
  • ½ cup of baking soda
  • 30 drops of Peppermint essential oil
  • 30 drops of Frankincense essential oil
  • 4-ounce glass jar
  • Mixing bowl

Directions:

  1. Put the coconut oil and baking soda in the mixing bowl. Stir thoroughly until the ingredients are combined.
  2. Add the essential oils and mix well.
  3. Put the mixture into the jar, secure the lid and store it in a cold spot.

You can use the mixture by applying it sparingly with your fingers, but I like using a wooden spoon and then applying it with my fingers. The natural ingredients found in this deodorant help soothe after-shaving irritations and redness, leaving the underarm area feeling fresh and soft as a feather. I like using Peppermint and Frankincense essential oils, but feel free to use your preferred essential oils and customize the scent of your DIY deodorant.
