The best house-friendly indoor plants

From boosting the mental and physical health to naturally purifying the air, plants play a major role in enhancing every living space. However, not all plants enjoy being kept in closed spaces such as houses and apartments, as sometimes the lack of natural light and space can be deadly to some of our green friends. 

But don’t let this overwhelm you and keep you away from those gracious shelves full of vibrant plants, as we are eager to inform you on some of the easiest-to-maintain house-friendly plants and how to take care of each of them.

Chinese Evergreen

Are you a fan of plants with patterned leaves? Chinese Evergreen may be your next favorite one. Even though this lustrous beauty is native to the tropical and subtropical regions, it can be quite adaptable and handles low, indirect light and dry air like a champ! 

This plant can often be found in 4, 6, 8, 10 and 14” grow pot sizes and range in height from 10” to 3-4’ tall. Make sure to water the plants every 7-9 days in the warmer season and 2-3 weeks when winter comes around. 

Philodendron

Philodendrons are plant-beginners best coach – they are easy to understand and maintain according to the signs they show. If the leaves are turning pale and slightly yellowy, this means the plant’s getting too much direct sunlight. If it’s growing tiny leaves, this means it needs more fertilizer to show its graciousness. 

But bear in mind, the sturdy vine may need support to climb and can grow from 2” to 20 ft tall, depending on the variety. The recommended watering schedule is once a week, allowing one inch of the soil to dry between waterings and place it medium indirect light. It’ll repay you for your efforts by effectively purifying the air in your living space!

Cactus

The funky and not-fussy cacti are ideal if you don’t want to spend a lot of time and effort in keeping your environment plant-rich and aesthetic. As they are native to the tropical regions, cacti don’t require a lot of water and are in their optimal form when watered once in 2 weeks in the warm season, once a month in the winter and when they are exposed to enough sunlight.

Choose your favorite one from the immense sea of prickly plants, place it near your favorite window and submerge in the meditative atmosphere it creates.

Jasmine

Although this fragrant vine prefers growing in warmer regions, the wide selection of Jasmine varieties allows you to find the best match for your preferences and conditions. Keeping the plant in a bright spot that receives a few hours of direct sunlight, never let the soil dry out and your Jasmine will luster in bloom.
